SHIKARPUR:
Unidentified men opened fire on two oil tankers on the Shikarpur-Jacobabad road near the Lodra grid station within the limits of Dakhan police station on Friday, causing a major traffic jam.
According to reports, the oil tankers were heading towards Quetta, when three unidentified armed men open fire on them. The police and Rangers rushed to the scene and a fire brigade was also summoned. Both drivers managed to jump out of the burning vehicles.
According to unconfirmed reports, the tankers were attacked because they were carrying oil supplies for Nato forces in Afghanistan. "The tankers do not belong to Nato," clarified SP Shikarpur Junaid Shaikh. "Both oil tankers were small and belonged to a private supplier." An investigation is being conducted.
