The Sindh government would fix the wheat support price only after consulting the growers, said Sindh Information Local Government, Housing, Town Planning, Religious Affairs, Forest and Wildlife Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah during a cabinet committee meeting on Tuesday.
He maintained that the Sindh government has always taken care of the growers and therefore, they will be taken into confidence before fixing the wheat support price.
Shah said that growers' suggestions would be presented before the Sindh cabinet, after which a decision would be made regarding the wheat support price, adding that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah have issued clear directives that the Sindh government consult the growers on the matter and take their objections into consideration, if any, before making a decision. The provincial minister stated that all matters related to the procurement and price of wheat would be resolved smoothly and swiftly.
Abadgar Board President Abdul Majeed Nizmani, who also attended the meeting, thanked the minister for assuring the growers of considering their suggestions.
Sindh Food and Minority Affairs Minister Hari Ram Kishori, Sindh Agriculture Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, culture secretary and other relevant officials also attended the meeting.
Relations with Iran
Shah also said that the relations between Iran and Pakistan were time-tested and very strong, and that the two countries were as close as brothers, while addressing a ceremony held at the Iranian Consulate in Karachi to celebrate 41 years of the Islamic Revolution on Monday.
Praising the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ahmad Mohammadi, Shah said that his efforts for bringing together Muslim scholars of different sects were very commendable. He added that setting such examples of "unity and togetherness, we have to give a clear message to all those forces who oppose Islam."
According to Shah, this "love and unity" among Muslims is "extremely unpleasant for forces that hate Islam."
The participants of the ceremony also paid tribute to General Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a US strike.
