Samples of chilli and turmeric powdered were confiscated by a Food Department team in a crackdown against adulteration of food items in Factory Area police station precinct on Friday. A department spokesman said trader Anwar Sheikh’s godown was raided on information that he was mixing impurities in powdered chilli and turmeric. He said 76 mounds of chilli and 60 of turmeric were seized and 13 samples of the two commodities were sent to laboratory for analysis. He said further action would be taken once the laboratory report was available.
