PMA rejects ordinance on medical commission
Demands restoration of old PMDC, formation of body to look after routine work

Pakistan Medical Association has rejected Pakistan Medical Commission and Medical Tribunal Ordinance 2019.
Speaking at a news conference in Quetta Civil Hospital, President PMA Ikram Ahmed Tunio, Secretary General Dr Qaiser Sajjad and members of the Central Executive Committee said the PMC is not a regulatory body and demanded that old PMDC must be restored while a temporary body should also be formed to look after routine work.
"The elections of the PMDC must be held within 100 days and genuine employees should be restored," they demanded.
Senior doctors said the PIC incident was tragic and body will not compromise on the security of doctors. Expressing concern over the increasing number of polio cases in the country, the doctors said all the stakeholders played a vital role in eliminating polio from the country.
They said Pakistan, like other countries, should have also rescued and brought its citizens from China to protect them from the outbreak of coronavirus, adding that the federal government had left the citizens to the mercy of China.
"We must be prepared for any situation in the future," President PMA Tunio warned.
Meanwhile, Qaiser said the annual conference under PMA will be held in Quetta this year while another one will be organised in Lahore in collaboration with China.
Condemning the conversion of Bolan Medical College to Bolan University of Health and Medical Sciences without consulting, doctors said all parties should be taken on board to resolve the issue.
They said the doctors’ fraternity does not support strikes nor do they want to hurt the public, urging the government to resolve their issues.
Doctors further demanded of the authorities to facilitate radiology, chemotherapy and cancer treatment in Sheikh Zayed Hospital.
