KARACHI:
Awami National Party's (ANP) Sindh division general secretary Younis Boneri and his son were assaulted by unidentified assailants near their house in Gulshan-e-Jamal on Saturday.

According to ANP leader Abdul Malik, Boneri had noticed a suspicious motorcyclist following him, upon which he called his son outside the house.

As they drew close to Boneri's residence, the motorcyclist was stopped by a security guard. Malik narrated that while the rider told the security guard he had come to deliver an invitation, at least a dozen armed men in three or four cars arrived at the scene. By the time Boneri arrived at his house, his son had also come outside. The armed men beat them up and escaped from the spot, while firing bullets into the air.
