MULTAN:
Punjab government has approved a water supply scheme of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) worth Rs1 billion and work on the project will be initiated soon.

WASA Deputy Director Water Supply Abdul Salam told APP on Saturday that proposals of two water supply schemes had been sent.

These proposals include replacement of outdated water supply lines and tubewells in Multan and a water supply scheme for underserved areas of Multan at a cost of Rs500 million, from which replacement of water supply lines schemes was approved.

He added that the second scheme was in approval stages.

The deputy director maintained, “Work will be executed on the approved scheme after completion of  the pre-qualification and tendering process.”

He further said that the replacement of old pipelines would help to ensure water supply to consumers in a proper way and to overcome complaints of contaminated water.

He explained that the water supply lines had spent their natural life.

He said that the work on these schemes would be completed in three years.

To a question about the installation of water metres at five beverages and mineral water factories, the deputy director said that they had installed six metres, while 11 would be installed next week
