“Effective development planning and policies have been finalised for sustainable development of Balochistan. The current provincial government has put Balochistan on development path,” Kamal said. The CM was reviewing performance of provincial energy and industries department.
During the meeting, Secretary Energy Sheharyar Taj and Secretary Industries Ghulam Ali Baloch briefed him about the government plans to uplift energy and industries sectors in the province.
Sheharyar Taj said the energy department has made all arrangements for partnership with private companies seeking to invest in provincial energy sector.
“We are prepared to move forward for Gwadar’s 300MW power project. We have also signed MoU with Inner-Tech Company. The company would commence installation of Renewable Plant in district Pishin. The provincial government has 8% share in the company’s income,” he said.
The secretary energy said implementation of energy parks plan in Bolan, Nukandi, Sibi, Mastung, Pishin, Panjgur and Lasbela is also in its final phase.
“The provincial government has allocated Rs4.60 billion in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) in order to uplift energy sector in Balochistan and given tenders of 52 out of 67 schemes.
“The energy department is utilizing all resources to fulfill the province’s energy need. We have plans to install solar panels in government schools, health centers, government buildings and streets lights to shift to renewable energy.”
Secretary Industries Ghulam Ali Baloch told the meeting that the government has approved Special Economic Zones in Bostan and Hub. These zones will respectively spread over 200acres and 406 acres of land. An investment facility center is also established in Karachi.
“We have been establishing Balochistan Special Economic Zones and Industrial State Development and Management Company that would be registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP),”he added.
He said the government has been establishing marble cites in Khuzdar, Dalbandin and Loralai while Industrial States would be established in Quetta, Khuzdar, Turbat, Chaman and Dera Murad Jamali,
“We have finalized rules for industrial development in Balcohistan that would be tabled in the next meeting of the Balochistan Special Economic Zone Authority. A monitoring cell has been established in order to control prices of food items and edibles,” Baloch added.
He said the government has signed an agreement with the federal government and six industrial units are functionalized through Lasbela Industrial Estates Development Authority (LIEDA).
The CM lauded contribution of government officers in achieving development targets in Balochistan.
