Dasti arrested in kidnapping, theft case

MULTAN: Former Member National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti was arrested on Thursday by Muzaffargarh police in alleged kidnapping and theft cases.

Dasti has been named in cases pertaining to the alleged abduction of the driver of an oil tanker and the theft of oil. The cases have also been registered against two former guards of Dasti.

The FIRs were registered on the complaint of the driver, stating that an oil tanker carrying 40,000 litres of diesel was travelling from Quetta to Multan on December 21, 2019, when near the Muzaffargarh-Dera Ghazi Khan road, a police vehicle along with another government vehicle intercepted it and ordered it to stop.

The FIRs mentioned that the armed men made the staff of oil tanker hostage and blindfolded them.

In a video statement, Dasti condemned the registration of cases against him.
