ISLAMABAD:
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Monday said the government will take up the Kashmir issue in the ongoing assembly session for two days and that it is expected that a resolution will also be passed unanimously in favour of the deprived masses of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK).

Addressing an event organised by the Islamabad Private Schools Network and Islamabad Private Schools Association in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day, the National Assembly speaker said that the nation stands united on the Kashmir issue and that they will stand with them until all their demands are met.

The speaker also led a rally along with the Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Khan Gandapur in the Fatima Jinnah Park. Qaiser said that the people of Kashmir have rendered tremendous sacrifices while raising their voice to protect their rights and continue the freedom struggle for more than seven decades.

Lamenting the five-month-long curfew in the disputed Himalayan territory, the NA speaker said that Kashmiris have been stranded in their own homes by the Indian armed forces with no access to food, medicine, education, internet and other necessities of life.

Meanwhile, a digital exhibition was also arranged to depict the atrocities of Indian armed forces on the people of Kashmir.

Children took part in tableau performance, speeches and posters to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Private Schools Association Secretary-General Abdul Waheed Khan said that various programmes have been organised over the past week in private schools of the federal capital to express sympathy and to raise voice for the freedom of Kashmir from the illegal Indian occupation.

Private Schools Association President Dr Afzal Babar added that the purpose of the event was to commemorate Kashmir Day.
