MPA, former mayor among POs in 2015 case

Ghulam Mohammad Abad police sources said the accused were involved in damaging cars and firing during a clash

FAISALABAD: Police have initiated steps to arrest 15 proclaimed offenders in a case lodged in 2015 on charges of firing and attempt to murder during local bodies elections, including an MPA of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former city mayor of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).

Ghulam Mohammad Abad police sources said the accused were involved in damaging cars and firing during a clash that took place on October 12, 2015, near the office of a candidate of general councilor, Rana Nazir Ahmad Khan, near Pak School, A Block.

The FIR was registered under sections 324, 440, 148 and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code and section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

When contacted, Ghulam Mohammad Abad PS Station House Officer Inspector Haji Nasir Abbas confirmed that there were 22 accused persons in the case out of whom seven have already got bail from the court.
