KESC to resume field operations from Friday

KARACHI: Karachi Commissioner Mohammad Hussain Syed said on Thursday that the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) will resume its field operations from Friday.

KESC had suspended its field operations on Wednesday following security threats to its staff and installations. The decision to resume its business operations was taken in a meeting at the Governor's House in Karachi.

Commissioner Karachi, KESC's administration including CEO Tabish Gohar met Governor Sindh Ishrat-ul-Ibad to discuss the stand-off between the KESC's administration and sacked union employees.

Tabish Gohar informed the Governor about KESC's reservations on the security of its installations to which the Governor assured the administration that union workers will not disrupt KESC's field operations -- and security will be provided to KESC installations and its staff members.

Leaving fluctuations and power outages aside Mr Tabish should realize that in the absence of meter reading KESC should not keep on sending bills made on average consumption. Some solution has to be found for this. I also wish to ask him to protect KESC and share holder interest as Plot no. SNP-49 Bahadur Yar Jang Society Block 7 & 8, off Amir Khusro Road, Karachi-75350 (located in Gulshan Town & within Karachi Cooperative Housing Societies Union Ltd).is being encroached upon. This Amenity Plot is also known as Kamal Park has substation KCHS E" on a part of this plot. Site map of the Amenity Plot issued by the Director of Land and Estate KMC on 22/01/1981 indicates, a) A mosque on 610 sq yards along with an access passage of 90 sq yards making 700 sq yards in total for the mosque, b) 711 sq yards for KESC, and c) the balance area for municipal use. Wake up KESC and protect OUR property!

KESC is a private establishment and has full rights to decide whom to keep or not. It is not an employment agency responsible for removing unemployment from the country.Given the fact that employees are given a decent severence package there is no justification causing lawlessness.I request the government to provide KESc full protection to discharge their duties.
