Meat Matters: Modern abattoir to be set up in Faisalabad

The proposed slaughter house will have the capacity to accommodate 14,000 small and 2,800 large animals.

A modern slaughter house is to be established the district in order to ensure quality meat for residents of the area. This project is being developed to integrate environment friendly and hygienic slaughtering facilities under public private partnership.

The proposed slaughter house will have the capacity to accommodate 14,000 small and 2,800 large animals.



The slaughter house will also be equipped with cold storage, solid waste disposal and marketing facilities. District coordination officer (DCO) Naseem Sadiq said that the slaughter house was a welcome addition considering recent reports of watered and contaminated meat being sold in the district.

Sadiq said that the modern slaughter house would be compatible with international safety standards through private sector participation. The DCO said that the cattle market had been shifted out of city at Millat road near Danaula and establishment of slaughtering house of land.
