Dr Hoodbhoy’s argument

Naushad Shafkat June 15, 2010

KARACHI: This is with reference to Dr Fawzia Afzal-Khan’s article “Missing Dr Hoodbhoy’s argument” (June 15). Dr Afzal makes very valid point on how we miss out on the logic of an opinion and castigate a person just because what he says does not fit our flawed logic. Dr Hoodbhoy (with whom I don’t necessarily always agree) is quite right in saying that in order for our indignation at the Peace Flotilla affair to have more punch, it is necessary for us to be equally, if not more, vociferous in our condemnation of the acts of terror carried out at home. After all what the Americans are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan does weaken its stance as the champion of democracy. And how odd when India champions freedom of speech at any world forums.
