Leak suggests PS5 will be much faster than new Xbox Series X

Popular gaming console PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X will be the most powerful machines as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) will be providing similar Zen 2 processors and Radeon Navi graphics cards for both consoles along with the fast solid-state drives.

According to a new leak, PS5 might have an upper hand over Xbox in terms of storage.

In terms of pricing, the report suggests that the more expensive model of Xbox would be delivering better graphics than its competitor the PS5.

However, we still don’t have much on the specs as both companies have been quite discreet in disclosing any details.

Another leak suggests, that the 2020 Xbox might be equipped with inferior storage compared to PS5, all three consoles are rumored to have pack SSDs however, not all of them are made equally.

According to a former Phison employee, the chip in the SSD controller that is used on the Xbox Scarlett prototype read and writes equal to a regular PCIe 3.0 NVMe drive.

PCGamesN suggests, that the controller might be paired with PCIe 4.0 SSD however, it is not compatible with higher speeds than PCIe 3.0.

Low-cost Phison PS5019-E19T SSD controller will make up for a pocket-friendly price tag of cheaper Xbox Series X.



The new Xbox models should be better performing than its predecessor gen consoles regardless of what controllers are being used, however, the PS5’s SSD speed might be double of the Xbox if Sony uses a complete PCIe 4.0 storage solution.

Sony is rumoured to unveil the new PS5 in the coming month.
