Delhi Colony resident 'committed suicide' because of loans

Man had consumed poison, fed it to children on Wednesday

Police claimed that a man who died on Wednesday after consuming a poisonous substance had committed suicide. The man also gave the substance to his two children, who are currently under treatment.

According to the police, they recorded the statement of the deceased's widow, who said that her husband committed suicide because of his inability to pay back a loan.

The woman said that her husband, who was associated with the gold business, had borrowed money from some people, but after finding himself unable to return the loan and faced with frequent demands by the lenders, he decided to kill himself and his children.

The 41-year-old man, a resident of Delhi Colony, had two children, a boy aged 8 and a girl aged 11. All three were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the man died before he could be treated. The children were shifted to the intensive care unit at the National Institute of Child Health, where they are now stable.


Police on Thursday claimed to have probed a mystery behind the death of a man who died after consuming some poisonous substance on Wednesday.

Police said that they have recorded that the statement of deceased person's wife who told the police that her husband committed suicide as he was unable to pay the loan which he borrowed from some people.

The woman told the police that her husband was associated with the gold business and borrowed loan from some people but was unable to return the loan and decided to kill himself and his children following the frequent demands by the people to return the loan.
