Three killed in Jaffarabad blast: Officials
Bomb planted on a motorbike targets OGDCL convoy in Dera Allah Yar.
QUETTA:
A bomb attack on Thursday killed at least three oil workers and injured five others in a remote town of Jaffarabad in the Pakistan's troubled southwest that borders Afghanistan and Iran, reported Express 24/7.
The blast hit a convoy of government-run Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) in the mineral rich province of Balochistan, where rebels are fighting for autonomy and a greater share of natural resources.
Police said the bomb was fixed to a motorbike and parked on the roadside about 170 miles southeast of the provincial capital Quetta.
"It was a remote-controlled device which hit the oil and gas officials' vehicle," Mohammed Tariq, a senior police official, told AFP.
Balochistan is riven by militancy and sectarian violence. Baloch rebels rose up in 2004 demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from the region's wealth of natural resources. Hundreds of people have since died.
