Foreign elements behind target killings: Malik

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik blamed foreign elements for trying to destabilise Pakistan by fueling target killings.

Addressing recent episodes of target killings in Karachi, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik blamed foreign elements for trying to destabilise Pakistan.

Speaking in the Senate, Malik said riots in Karachi are being fueled by foreign funds and with the cooperation of local elements. He said gangs are behind the unrest in Lyari and warned that action will be taken against all elements trying to challenge the government's writ.


Malik urged the ullema to play their role to control sectarianism in Karachi for peace and stability in the region.

Highlighting developments made in this regard, Malik said some of the criminals have already been arrested, while others are actively being chased.
