KARACHI: A man and his two children were brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Wednesday after they reportedly consumed poisonous juice. The man had died before reaching the hospital, while children were admitted to the National Institute of Children Health.

The deceased was identified as Rehan, 41, while the children were identified as Muniza, 11, and Ibrahim, 8.

"The reason for the father's death was the consumption of poison," said JPMC executive director Dr Seemin Jamali. "Both the children were brought to the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) in critical condition."

NICH Director Dr Jamal Raza said that the boy is still in critical condition, whereas the girl is stable now.

Police said that the deceased, along with his wife and children, used to live in Delhi Colony. "The initial investigation suggested that the incident occurred when they consumed a poisonous substance, apparently juice," said a police spokesperson.
