Rest houses to be restored, says minister

QUETTA: Provincial Minister of Communication and Works (C&W) Mir Muhammad Arif Muhammad Hassani has said that immediate work will be initiated on the construction, renovation and restoration of resthouses of the Department of Communications and Works across the province.

EXENs shall immediately submit the cost estimate for the construction of rest houses of the department to the chief engineer," Hassani said chairing a meeting.

The meeting was attended by C&W Technical Adviser Mukhtiyar Ahmed Kakar, chief engineers and superintendent engineers. The chief engineers briefed Hassani about miserable condition of all the rest houses across the province. They also apprised him of lack of engineers for the development of the state-owned property.

Hassani expressed anger and directed the chief engineers to issue notices to whoever has occupied the rest houses so that repairing could be immediately initiated.

He said that the engineers of the department must improve their performance. "Government allocates funds for specific purpose and they should be utilised accordingly. Department engineers are responsible for the construction work therefore low quality standard will not be tolerated during the renovation,” he added.
