16 held for violating tenancy act  in Rawalpindi

Cases registered under Punjab Information of Temporary Residence Ordinance 2015

The Rawalpindi City police on Sunday registered separate cases against as many as 16 landlords and their tenants for not submitting the requisite documents to the relevant police stations.

Police officials on Sunday said that the Rawat police had raided and arrested tenants Sadaqat, Aurangzeb, Muhammad Imran, Muzmil Yasin, Imran Khan, Muhammad Farooq, Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Akram, Nadeem Khan, Qasier Ahmed, Murtaza Iman, Jamaluddin, Muhammad Din, Samiullah, Imran Ali and Muhammad Saleem for violating the tenancy act and living illegally in rented property.


A police spokesperson said that cases have been registered against them under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residence Ordinance 2015. Under the ordinance, the details of new tenants should be submitted with the police within 24 hours of giving possession of the property, however, the suspects had failed to do so.
