The struggle for the legal fraternity’s progress has to begin, announced Malir Bar Association (MBA) President Muhammad Ashraf Samu.
Speaking at a press conference at the press club, Samu decided that an All Sindh District Bar Association convention would be held in Karachi to put together a plan of action.
The MBA president also announced that the lawyers would end their strike against the NGOs offering free legal aid to inmates from Thursday as the SHC has issued stay orders.
“We, the lawyers of Malir Bar, announce that each lawyer will provide free legal aid to needy people against influential people,” said Samu.
He appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Justice Mushir Alam to hire judges for the 20 empty posts in the SHC. They want them to hire “honest and competent lawyers” from the upper Sindh district bars.
