Chakwal Police bust four gangs of robbers

Chakwal Police have arrested four inter-district groups involved in robberies and recovered looted goods worth millions of rupees from them.

Chakwal DPO Adil Memon told reporters that robbers had barged in to the house of famous rewrari makers Pehlwan Group in Chakwal city.

The robbers had looted cash and gold worth over Rs6 million from the house, while holding the family hostage at gunpoint.

Police tracked down the suspects and arrested them, DPO said adding that police seized eight tola gold and Rs650,000 cash from the alleged robbers.

The suspects belong to Multan district and had come to Chakwal to commit robberies and then flee to their hometown.


In the second case, DPO Memon said, police arrested a two-member gang wanted in 14 cases of thefts and armed robbery. Police have recovered 29 tolas of gold and Rs600,000 from them.

DPO Memon told the media that they had also cracked a case of kidnapping for ransom and arrested six suspects while safely recovering the abductee, a shopkeeper.

The accused had demanded a ransom of Rs30 million from the victim’s family. However, a police party traced the suspects and recovered the victim.

DPO further said that recurrent cases of robberies had been occurring in the  Choa Saidanshah area. Police had received numerous complaints of snatching and robberies in which people had been deprived of cash and valuables to the tune of millions of rupees.

A special police party was formed which arrested the gang of five robbers including Ahsan Ali Raza, Furqan Qamar, Arslan Dhanchi Akhtar, Mohammad Jameel Iqbal, and Asif Iqbal Iqbal. Police were conducting an investigation after obtaining physical remand of the suspects from the district court.
