Chief minister says Rs3b allocated for the development of each district

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has said the provincial government released Rs50 billion for development projects in the ongoing fiscal year.

“This demonstrates the present government’s successful development policy,” he said while talking to a delegation of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Youth Wing from Bela.

"The government has allocated Rs3 billion for the development of each district in the budget of this fiscal year,” he added.

“The completion of the development projects will facilitate the people of each district.”

The delegation was led by (BAP) Youth Wing President Parvez Umer and Chairman Hanif Shah. They requested the chief minister to address the problems of their area and appreciated his efforts for resolving major issues of the district.

The chief minister said other districts of Balochistan were receiving as much attention as Lasbela.

"The tender process for over 70% of the new development projects has been completed," the CM said.

Kamal said the government was building roads – measuring around 255km in total -- across the province with its budget. “This will not only provide better transportation facilities but also increase agricultural, marine and mineral production in major markets.

The chief minister reaffirmed his commitment to make Balochistan a prosperous and developed province, adding that access to economic activities and employment opportunities would be ensured.

Other members of the delegation included Adeel Ahmed Channa, Dr Tola Ram Laasi, Makhi Parem Chan and Pankaj Kumar.

Positive results

Chief Minister Kamal has said the provincial government’s ‘effective policies’ regarding implementation of good governance and strengthening capacity of departments is yielding positive results in Balochistan.

Talking about Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA),he said financial crisis and unsatisfactory performance of the body is being revamped while the department’s revenue collection has also increased which, he believed, is a good sign.

“WASA collected a record revenue during 2018-19 fiscal year of Rs70 million from the daily consumers which testifies the effective policies and keen monitoring of the incumbent government,” the chief minister said.

He directed authorities to step up efforts to ensure provision of quality facilities to the people on priority.

Quetta mosque blast

Kamal on Saturday visited Civil Hospital’s Trauma Centre where he met the injured of Ishaqabad’s mosque blast.

Balochistan chief minister ordered quality treatment for the injured and wished the victims a speedy recovery.

“The government and the law enforcement agencies will take revenge from the terrorists who were involved in targeting innocent worshippers,” vowed Kamal on the occasion.

He visited various departments of the trauma centre and directed authorities to ensure provision of quality medical care to the patients.

“Government of Balochistan has been utilising all available resources for the betterment and development of the health sector,” Kamal added.

He also directed making important changes inside the centre following the requests of patients and attendees.
