Federal govt asked to increase food allowance of cops
Malik says that it is sad that a police constable gets only Rs290 per month as food allowance
Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Senator Rehman Malik on Friday urged the government to increase the food allowance for Islamabad Police officials in wake of high inflation in the country.
‘We should not expect extraordinary performance from police officials when they are being paid a meagre amount,’ Malik said.
He said that it is sad that a police constable gets only Rs290 per month as food allowance even with the country current inflation rates.
He called upon the interior ministry to immediately review all allowances of police officials and increase the current food allowance to cover the price hike. He added that issues related to the police department and officials will be taken up in the next meeting of the senate standing committee.
