Iqra University begins fellowship programme
It is the first in Pakistan to have initiated an international fellowship programme
Iqra University has launched an international postdoctoral fellowship programme, offering research opportunities in the areas of business, computer science, education and social sciences and inviting applications from across the world.
The fellowship fund by the varsity covers monthly stipend, in the range of $1,000 and $2,000, health insurance and accommodation.
Iqra University is the first university of Pakistan to have initiated an international fellowship programme. Speaking in this regard, Iqra University Vice-Chancellor Dr Wasim Qazi termed the endeavour a "milestone."
"Postdoctoral research is the need of the hour," he said, adding that developed nations have been able to make progress because they invested heavily in research, science and technology.
"Developing nations, [on the other hand], are lagging behind in making progress in the field of science, as they do not give priority to scientific research and development."
