ISLAMABAD:

Ignoring the verdict of the Supreme Court, the Establishment Division on Tuesday appointed Khalid Farooq, a retired BS-22 officer of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), as national coordinator in the National Counter Terrorism Authority on contract basis.

Sources say the appointment is not only a violation of the Supreme Court verdict, but an attempt to deprive many qualified officers of getting the BS-21 slot.

A few grade 21 PSP officers have been waiting for postings for months now, but they were ignored to benefit Farooq. Informed sources said that another grade 22 officer, Khalid Sultan, was reemployed as the Civil Services Academy’s director general on contract basis last month.

Meanwhile, the establishment division placed Allah Dino Khawaja, BS-20 PSP officer presently posted in the Intelligence Bureau, at the disposal of the Sindh government. Another BS-20 PSP officer, Ghulam Nabi Memon, was moved to the Intelligence Bureau.

The establishment division also approved the promotion of two Secretariat group officers, Mashood Ahmed Mirza and Muhammad Naeem were promoted to grade 20 and were directed to report to the establishment division.

Both Mirza and Naeem were serving as Wafaqi Mohtasib on deputation basis.
