HYDERABAD:
has said Pakistan's soil should not be used in the conflict between the US and Iran. "The dark clouds of war have engulfed the entire region after the US killed Gen Qassem Soleimani of Iran," he said in a statement issued on Monday.

Palijo condemned the policies of US President Donald Trump, saying that he was unabashedly pushing the world towards "the inferno of war." He blamed Trump for "practically starting a war with Iran" by killing its top military officer.

"The world doesn't need war but only peace. However, Trump's policies are consistently pushing the world towards war," he said.

Palijo observed that Pakistan enjoyed a strategic significance in the region and recalled sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of people in the country since the "Afghan war was thrust upon the region" over three decades ago.

He said peace was restored in Pakistan after a drawn out battle against terrorism stretching over a period of more than a decade. He deplored that the US did not recognise the sacrifices of Pakistanis in the war against terrorism.

Meanwhile, Sindh United Party (SUP) President Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, in a separate statement, issued after his party's meeting in Jamshoro, advised the Government of Pakistan against taking a side in the war between Iran and the US. "Pakistan shouldn't allow any country to use its soil in the event of a war," he said.
