KARACHI:
Health officials on Thursday confirmed one more polio case, where a baby girl had contracted the virus in December last year, taking the tally for 2019 to 20 in the province.

Health officials said that a five-month-old baby girl from Dadu had contracted the polio virus, which affected her left lower limb. The child was administered just one dose of the polio vaccine, while she had not received any Inactivated Polio Vaccine or routine immunisation except for the BCG vaccine.

The health officials stated that EOC Sindh will now launch a case response across the province from January 13 to 19 to further curb the spread of the virus. The case response will be conducted in over 702 UCs of the province with an aim to vaccinate 5.12 million children in the selected 20 districts. The polio campaigns have been planned frequently and will continue until June, authorities added.
