Citing malnutrition as the main reason for newborn deaths, Pishin Deputy Commissioner Qaim Khan Lashari said that a healthy mother is the guarantee for a healthy child and society.
Lashari expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled “Health of mother and child,” the other day in Quetta.
He said that the ratio of infant mortality in the country was increasing and the main factor behind the disturbing situation was the lack of proper diet of mothers.
He said that parents, teachers and educated people in the society could play a key role in creating awareness about the importance of healthy and quality food.
The DC also underscored the significance of breastfeeding and said that it ensured ideal nutrition among infants.
