KARACHI: A man who was injured in a clash in Hijrat Colony on Saturday succumbed to his injuries later that evening. A protest seeking justice for the deceased was held on Sunday.

Rickshaw driver Shahid Khan, 26, son of Abdul Karim, was fatally stabbed with a sharp object. He was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he breathed his last. A case was registered against suspects, Faisal, Mir Nawaz, Ismail, Ibrahim alias Kalu, and one unidentified suspect, on behalf of the deceased's uncle Azizullah. The FIR was lodged under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code pertaining to murder and abetment.

The deceased's family staged a protest near PIDC Chowrangi on Sunday. The protestors lamented that several hours had passed but the police had failed to arrest the suspects. They accused the police of being silent spectators and allowing the suspects to flee before their eyes.

According to the deceased's family, Shahid had gotten into a dispute with Ismail with the former accusing the latter of stealing parts of his rickshaw. A case had also been registered in this regard at Civil Lines Police Station on behalf of the deceased. This allegedly culminated into a clash on Saturday during which Shahid was stabbed.

The police assured the protestors that arrests would be made soon and the protesters dispersed.
