If there’s one year that can easily be looked back upon by virtue of all the weddings that took place during its length, it would be 2019.

Be it your best friend or your cousin’s best friend tying the knot, chances are, you’ve attended at least two weddings this year, even if it was just through Instagram.

If not that, you couldn’t have missed out on all the loved up celebs tying the knot this year – from surprise announcements to long engagements, a number of our celebrities took the plunge and made it official with their better halves.

When Yasir Hussain went down on one knew at the Lux Style Awards this July, an unsuspecting Iqra Aziz was a puddle of emotions, and said yes to the ‘love of her life’. Almost six months of engagement and tons of teasing, the duo finally tied the knot on December 28 in a day-time nikkah ceremony with friends and family in attendance.

Preceded by intimate mehendi and mayun events, Iqra opted for Nomi Ansari to create a bespoke all-red bridal ensemble for her big day that not-so-faintly resembled something we’ve seen Priyanka Chopra wear, not to mention Hania Amir on the ramp.

A month after Yasir’s public proposal, Hamza Ali Abbasi’s wedding card started making the rounds on social media, sending fans into a frenzy. As it turned out, the rumours were true and Hamza tied the knot with Naimal in a ceremony that was easily the most-talked about wedding in Pakistan in recent memory.

Naimal’s minimal glam oozed a timeless, old-world charm that quickly catapulted her into the mainstream as a style icon – she topped the Google Trends list in Pakistan this year. The couple subsequently decided to stay away from the spotlight after marriage - however Naimal’s look has inspired many a bride this wedding season.

In what was perhaps one of the most surprising news to come out of Iman Aly’s life in recent years, the model got married to Babar Bhatti in February this year, in a relatively quiet ceremony. Although a number of her peers attended the wedding, it wasn’t a big event on social media, and the bride chose to only post a handful of pictures from her big day.

The model-cum-actor looked just as stunning as you would expect from her, choosing delicately traditional ensembles for all her events – a mehendi event that doubled as a nikkah event, and a valima reception.

Breaking away from the lavish wedding trend, Mira Sethi decided to get married in a hush-hush affair, with her close friends and family in attendance. The talented actor who chose her childhood friend as her partner for life, and pulled off the most understated wedding look of perhaps the decade! “I did my own makeup, scooped my hair into a ponytail, and married the love of my life,” said Mira, describing her wedding look.

The quirky designer, who never hesitates to experiment, got married in a lavish ceremony that was attended by the who’s who of the fashion and entertainment fraternity. The bride, Myra Khan, echoed Naimal’s vibe with a flushed out, minimal makeup look and a timeless, blush pink ensemble to tie it together. The ceremony made waves on social media thanks to the gorgeous set-up and arrangements at the venue, not to mention the star power at the event!
