‘Modi creating war-like situation to divert world’s attention from internal crises’
AJK president says 2019 has proved to be the worst year for more than 500,000 people of AJK living along the LoC
ISLAMABAD:
Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan on Thursday vociferously condemned India’s recent violation of ceasefire agreement — that includes firing along the Line of Control (LoC) and targeting civilian population in different sectors of AJK.
"The unprovoked firing by Indian troops is an attempt of diverting the world's attention from its internal situation," he said.
According to DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, Indian troops have repeatedly violated the 2003 ceasefire agreement between the two countries during the last 36 hours.
“Responding to CFVs in Haji Pir Sector, Pakistan Army troops damaged [an] Indian post killing 3 Indian soldiers, including a Subedar,” he wrote in a tweet. Some Indian soldiers were also wounded in the retaliatory fire. “In Dewa Sector, Naib Subedar Kandero and Sepoy Ehsan of Pakistan Army embraced Shahadat.”
While expressing his deep sense of sorrow over the martyrdom of Naib Subedar Kandero and Sepoy Ehsan, President Masood also sympathised with the bereaved families, and paid rich tributes to Pakistan Army personnel for sacrificing their lives for defence of the motherland.
Terming the ‘violation of ceasefire agreement’ by Indian troops as a cowardice act, he said that uprising in the length and cranny of India against the BJP-led government — following the passage of so-called Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) — has bewildered Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cronies.
"India is creating a war-like situation along the LoC to come out of the internal and external pressure, and to divert the world’s attention from domestic uprising and the lockdown of Occupied Kashmir," he added.
The AJK president said that 2019 has proved to be the worst year for more than 500,000 people of 80,000 families of Azad Kashmir living along the LoC because 61 civilians have so far fallen victims to Indian barbarity.

"Besides, 257 innocent civilians were injured or disabled while houses of hundreds of civilians were damaged either fully or partially," he said, adding, “Four of the 10 districts of Azad Kashmir including Neelum-Jhelum valley, Haveli, Poonch and Kotli are badly affected by the Indian firing.”
Welcoming the relief package announced by the federal government for the civilians along the LoC, President Masood termed it a timely step. "The allocation of Rs670 million by the federal government for rehabilitation of 13,982 families will provide relief to the people affected along the LoC."
He added: “We have been stressing since long that after declaring Occupied Kashmir as its colony, India has set to attack on Azad Kashmir as its next target.”
He urged the international community, including the United Nations, to take strict notice of the naked Indian aggression.
