Overcoming crisis: PIA returns to business as usual

Employees reported to work and the ticket counters were operational after PIA "successfully" dealt with the crisis.

KARACHI:

All flight operations on Monday remained on schedule, said Pakistan International Airlines spokesperson Anisa Rehman.

Rehman said that PIA had “successfully” dealt with the crisis. All employees reported to work and the ticket counters were operational. She said some international flights, including those coming from London, Dhaka and Toronto were delayed on Sunday and they arrived later than expected, on Monday, but apart from that everything was on schedule.

More than 44 flights of the airline were disrupted throughout the country on Sunday.

This was due to the killing of two political activists, one of whom was the president of the airline’s employees union.

The Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson, Pervez George, rubbished rumours that union workers had damaged airport facilities and burnt tyres inside the airport.
