Terror attacks fell in 2019: K-P IG 

Having battled terrorists for much of the decade, this year, terror incidents were few and far in between

PESHAWAR: Having battled terrorists for much of the decade, this year, terror incidents were few and far in between.

This was stated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Inspector General (IG of Police (IGP) Dr Naeem Khan during a news briefing on Tuesday.

Apart from a few terror incidents, he said that police, in collaboration with other security forces, took decisive action against terror groups.

In this regards, he said that they took action against the Bali Khiyara group, which was allegedly involved in attacks on law enforcing agencies in Punjab and K-P including an attack on police in Dera Ismail Khan in February in which an SHO lost his life.

The group, the IGP said, was also involved in terrorist activities in Punjab.

The terror group, he said, went on to allegedly commit 28 terror attacks in 2018 and some 26 attacks in 2015. However,

To tackle them, he said that a tri-force meeting of the Punjab, K-P and Balochistan police was held in which the challenges faced by the police, with regards to the group, were discussed.
