Home Minister Sindh, Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza directed intelligence agencies to inform concerned Police stations before making any arrests, on Monday.
Mirza took notice of intelligence agencies taking people into custody without completing legal procedures and wrote to high ranking officials of law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
He said that if the agencies do not comply with the laws, then the provincial government will make a statement against the agencies in a Judicial Inquiry.
Last month a Ministry of Interior official told the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights that there were ‘only’ 1601 missing persons in Pakistan. The federal government decided in January to either ‘admit’ arrest of ‘known missing persons’ or officially inform the superior courts that these persons were not in the custody of any law-enforcement or intelligence agency.
