ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Imran Khan has said after achieving economic stability, the government is making comprehensive and long-term plans for economic development in the country.

"Inter-ministerial coordination is vital for long-term and comprehensive planning [for early completion of the projects]," said the prime minister while chairing a meeting to review the progress of Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects for fiscal year 2019-20 on Monday.

Planning Minister Asad Umar, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, Food Security Minister Khusro Bakhtiar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Planning Commission deputy chairman, secretary planning and other senior officers were in attendance.

Addressing the participants, PM Imran issued directions for picking up the pace of work for early completion of development projects.
“Make sure that no development plan or scheme is subjected to delay due to red-tapism,” said Imran.

Imran was of the view that in addition to utilising government resources, the private sector should be involved in development work. He assured that the government would provide them all possible facilities.

The PM was given a detailed briefing over the progress made on PSDP projects of the first and second quarters of FY20. He was informed that 380 new development schemes had been launched under the PSDP.

A detailed report on the performance of various ministries regarding completion of under-construction development projects was submitted to the PM.

The PM was also informed that the government facilitated the approval process of various schemes and the release of funds for the approved projects so that no venture was subject to delay.
