Foreign funding case adjourned till January 9
Counsel for PML-N, PPP appear before ECP’s scrutiny committee
ISLAMABAD:
There was no progress on the matter of foreign funding and money laundering against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
As the ECP’s scrutiny committee’s proceedings began, PML-N counsel Jahangir Jadoon appeared before the panel.
The committee had sought complete details of donors from the PML-N in the last hearing but the Nawaz-league failed to comply with the order.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Jadoon said that the scrutiny committee’s proceedings could not take place due to the absence of one of the members of the panel.
After the PML-N, PPP’s Ejaz Rathore appeared before the committee but the hearing remained inconclusive due to the fact that the party filed another application with the ECP asking for proofs against the scrutiny committee’s allegations.
After receiving the PPP’s application, the hearing of the scrutiny committee was put off till January 9.
