One killed, two injured in encounter with Rangers

Officials claim that the suspects were involved in target killing, extortion, kidnapping for ransom

An alleged target killer, who was also said to be involved in an attack on a police forensic van in the jurisdiction of Sachal Police Station, was killed in an encounter with Rangers on Saturday. Moreover, two suspects were injured in the exchange of fire.

According to a Rangers spokesperson, a raid was conducted at a house in Manghopir on a tip-off. The spokesperson said that the suspects opened fire as they saw the law enforcement officials. When the Rangers retaliated, three of the suspects were injured whereas two suspects managed to escape from the spot. All three injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. One of them, Abdullah Mehsud, died during the course of treatment, while Sherullah alias Sheena and Muhammad Suhail survived.

Rangers officials claimed that the suspects were involved in target killing, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, looting and other criminal activities in the areas of Sohrab Goth, Janjar Goth, Gulshan-e-Maymar, New Karachi, Manghopir and New Sabzi Mandi. The injured suspects were handed over to the police.

Weapons and ammunition were seized during the raid, while two motorcycles that had been snatched in Manghopir two days earlier were also recovered from the suspects' possession.
