WASA, RDA decide to hike water tax property transfer fee

The meeting also approved amending by-laws to include tanks in all new public, private buildings for storing rainwater

RAWALPINDI:
In an important meeting of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Board of Directors approved 100 to 200 per cent increase in water and sewerage bills.

RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza chaired the board meeting attended by RDA DG Ammara Khan and WASA Managing Director Muhammad Tanveer.

The board meeting took the decision to bring RDA and WASA out of the financial crisis, according to documents available with The Express Tribune.


The meeting also approved amending by-laws to include tanks in all new public and private buildings for storing rainwater.

Rainwater storage tanks would become mandatory in all future buildings, the meeting decided.

While WASA will increase water, sanitation, and sewerage bills, RDA will increase property transfer fees.
