RAWALPINDI:
To make availability of water as close as possible, the sustainable forestry department has prepared six ponds in the different forest areas.
The ponds have been developed in the areas of Kalar Syedan, Kahuta, Chakwal, Kalar Kahar, and Basal Kalan. The fire bowsers would not have to travel far for refilling their tanks but instead, the stored water in these ponds would be utilised.
In this regard, the Sustainable Forestry Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ferozuddin and Admin Officer Muhammad Nauman told The Express Tribune that the pond water would also be used for animals as well as for irrigation purposes.
They added that the rainwater would not get wasted and would store in these ponds. Disclosing next year’s plans, they said that the department was germinating fruit-bearing trees which would be planted across Rawalpindi by the end of January next year.
