KARACHI:
The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has decided to take action against vehicle tax defaulters. A province-wide campaign will be launched on December 23, during which vehicles will be checked on the roads for non-payment of taxes.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation, Anti-Narcotics and Parliamentarian Affairs, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, on Wednesday. Department secretary Abdul Haleem Sheikh and director-general Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi also attended the meeting, along with other officials.

While briefing the meeting, Siddiqi stated that an awareness drive has also been launched regarding the benefits of paying taxes on time. "The vehicles of tax defaulters will be seized on the spot during the road checking and will only be returned after clearing the dues along with the penalties imposed for late payment," he stated.

Meanwhile, Chawla advised the vehicle owners to transfer the vehicle on their names immediately after purchasing it as it is an offence to drive a car on an open letter.
