LAHORE:
The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has called on the government to announce a five-year policy for the textile and clothing sector aimed at attracting long-term investment.
Speaking to a delegation of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) on Tuesday, Aptma Punjab Senior Vice Chairman Abdul Rahim Nasir revealed that the textile industry was planning to establish 1,000 garment manufacturing plants near major textile producing cities.
These cities included Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Kasur, Multan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Peshawar. “The government should allow both direct and indirect exporters to utilise the Long Term Financing Facility (LTFF) for building infrastructure in addition to the existing schemes for plant and machinery,” he said.
