ISLAMABAD: Syed Tufailur Rehman Hashmi, who was killed in a clash at IIUI, was a fourth semester student of BS Computer Science.

His family belonged to Pakora village of Ashkoman tehsil of Gilgit.

Coming from a family of die-hard JI supporters, Hashmi was active in IJT during his intermediate in science from FG School Gilgit. His father Abd al Jalal Syed is a prominent member of JI in Gilgit.

Hashmi was present near the hostel during the clash on Thursday, when unidentified people threw a brick from the roof on his head. Hashmi's friends revealed that he was tortured during the clash and his clothes had been torn after which he was standing in the dark on the side of the hostel where unknown students threw a brick from the roof on his head.

He was shifted to Pims where he succumbed to his injuries.
