KARACHI:
Sindh Police IG Dr Kaleem Imam has written a letter to the Sindh chief secretary regarding the transfer of police officials Khadim Hussain Rind and Dr Rizwan Ahmed, who are Grade 20 and 19 officials, respectively.

According to Dr Imam, the transfers took him by surprise, and not only have they affected the policing process, they have also impacted the morale of the department. He said it was ironic that despite being the IG, he found out about the transfers through the media, and further noted the orders issued by the Sindh High Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding his authority to make transfers and appointments.

He wrote that unfortunately, the transfers were made at a time when he was making efforts to discourage the frequent transfers of police officials and to provide a chance for officials to serve on a post for an extensive period of time.

The provincial police chief stated that Rind had been supervising some major affairs of the police establishment, such as overseeing appointments on vacant positions, promotions of police officials and planning for the department.

Dr Imam further requested the government to let the Sindh Police handle matters of transfers and appointments in the future.
