KARACHI:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) acquitted five persons accused of kidnapping citizens, murdering them and then chopping off the bodies of their victims before disposing them.

The ATC acquitted the accused due to the lack of evidence against them. Alleged target killers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L), Nooruddin alias Lal Bal, Muhammad Kamran alias Mechanic, Younis alias Lamba, Salahuddin, and Asif Ali alias Mistri were acquitted from the case. Announcing the verdict, the court remarked that Lal Bal's confessional statement, given before the police, held no legal standing. The others who are on the run were also acquitted from the case.

According to police, the accused kidnapped hotel owner Azad Hassan from Orangi Town and murdered him. The police claim that they disrespected the body of the deceased by chopping it into pieces, packing the pieces in a plastic bag and then throwing it in a garbage dump. The police say that another citizen suffered the same fate at the hands of the accused.
