Alia Bhatt visibly upset as father Mahesh Bhatt loses his cool at press event
The film-maker’s family wasn’t able to calm him down either
Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter Shaheen recently unveiled her memoir I’ve Never been (Un) Happier and the entire family came out to support her during the launch of the book in Mumbai.
Raazi star Alia Bhatt was seen answering questions from the media and other attendees. But there came a moment when Mahesh got carried away and started ranting at the top of his voice, reported Times of India.
The film-maker was talking about the importance of a good listener. He revealed that Shaheen would simply call up a friend and cry for hours when she was battling the disorder but was not "looking for answers" as such.
Just then, a reporter responded to Mahesh saying, "So you don't really want answers?" This triggered Mahesh. He furiously replied, "There are no answers! There are pretenders who claim to have answers and they institutionalise those answers and impose them with the butt-end of a gun."
Trying to calm him down, Shaheen yelled, "Papa!" A visibly uncomfortable Alia said, "I warned you that this was going to happen.” Mahesh continued, “I have never pretended to my children that I was in possession of the virtues that people flaunt. That's why they feel they are not misfits with me. I am a misfit at 71."

For the event, Shaheen opted for teal blue matching separates, while the eldest sister Pooja Bhatt was clad in an asymmetrical top and denims. Alia, on the other hand, sported a pinstripes co-ord set featuring boot-cut lowers. I’ve Never been (Un) Happier narrates the psychological battles Shaheen has faced overtime including depression and anxiety.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia has a myriad of upcoming projects. She is currently shooting for Brahmastra, where will be seen sharing screen space with beau Ranbir Kapoor for the first time. She will also be seen in Gangubai Kathiawadi, Sadak 2 and RRR alongside Ajay Devgn.
