Bakhtiar directs immediate release of wheat to Sindh

Availability of wheat in Pakistan and its pricing trends in focus

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has stressed the timely release and availability of wheat from Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) to Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

He was addressing a meeting on wheat distribution from PASSCO to flour mills of Sindh and K-P on Monday. The meeting also focused on the availability of wheat in the country and its pricing trends, releases of wheat from PASSCO and its finical implications.

After detailed deliberations, it was unanimously agreed that Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA)  will deliver the wheat flour at ex-mill price of Rs43 per kg in Karachi, and will ensure the same.

Bakhtiar said that the agreement between PASSCO and the government of Sindh for the release of 300,000 tons (0.3 million) of wheat would be signed in the current week. The federal minister directed immediate release of 50,000 tons of wheat to Sindh from PASSCO.
