Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Saturday named Service Road West in sector F-10 Islamabad as Ahmad Faraz Road, said a press release. The road was named in recognition of the meritorious services of renowned poet Ahmad Faraz for Urdu literature and poetry. Considered to be one of the greatest modern Urdu poets, Syed Ahmad Shah, or Ahmad Faraz, was born in 1931 and an outspoken critic of Zia’s regime, which forced him into exile for six years. His poetry was fine yet easy to understand even by common people. He died in Islamabad on August 25, 2008 and interred at the H-8 graveyard.
