Malik Riaz vows to fulfill commitment with SC

Says money would be deposited with apex court even if he had to sell his houses

PESHAWAR: Refuting reports of corruption, Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz noted that after carrying out inquiry for a year, UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) said that he had not committed any felony.

The real estate magnet was speaking to media on Thursday at the inaugural ceremony of Bahria Town sales and marketing office in Peshawar.

He urged the resourceful to bring the money to Pakistan like him.

The Bahria chief vowed to fulfil his commitment with the Supreme Court at all costs and maintained that money would be deposited with the apex court. He said even if he had to sell his houses for the purpose, he would not hesitate to do so.

He acknowledged that his children were British national.

The business tycoon said that there were difficulties in Pakistan and working in the country was a bit complex but wherever Bahria reached, the landscape of city changed.

“The project would play a pivotal role in the economic and industrial growth in the country and would bring Peshawar into the club of modern cities in the world,” he said.

“Bahria Town is going to introduce such a master planned community in Peshawar where all world-class facilities with latest construction and infrastructure will be provided. This reasonable-priced residential project with modern medical facilities, schools, commercial areas, mosques, community centres, parks and wide roads will prove to be state-of-the-art for modern lifestyle,” he added.

Riaz was the chief guest of the occasion and the ceremony was attended by several social and business figures along with Bahria Town Country Director Shahid Mehmood Qureshi.

Qureshi termed the project a game-changer for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Bahria Town is Asia’s largest private real estate developer which after Karachi, Nawabshah, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi is going to Peshawar to launch its project.

Speaking to media, the residents of Peshawar said that they were anxiously waiting for the project because they highly trusted Bahria Town and all its projects.

They declared that such a reasonable-priced quality project would not only benefit the people but would contribute to the economic progress and help provide better employment.
