Govt mulls new districts in northern Balochistan

Minister says preparations were under way the chief minister would make the announcement soon

QUETTA: New administrative divisions and districts will be created in northern Balochistan soon to facilitate the people of the Pashtun-dominated areas of the province, a minister has said.

Presently, northern Balochistan comprises of two divisions, Quetta and Zhob. There are seven divisions in the province.

“The provincial government is considering creating at least one more administrative division comprising some districts in northern Balochistan,” provincial public health engineering minister Haji Noor Muhammad Dummar told reporters.

“Provincial ministers and MPAs have been pressing for a new administrative division. It will be a great decision for the people of northern Balochistan,” he added.

The minister said preparations were under way the chief minister would make the announcement soon.

“The establishment of new divisions and districts in the northern part of the province will help address administrative problems. It will provide relief to the people who have to travel a long way to reach Quetta and Loralai.”
